Sofifi- Swedish designer gets inspired by the movie Blade Runner

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

Sofie Brattberg is a Swedish designer. She describes herself as a very simple girl working alot with music. She realized her dream to design clothing when she started to make the outfits for a band she joined as a singer. She told me she had been inspired for this season’s collection while watching the movie Blade Runner. Sofie said , ” I love the femininity in it, you have the 50′s,40′s and then you have the future inside of it. And I love that combination. I worked alot with leather and fur in this collection and also more romantic materials such as lace and gorgette which is more soft but still using a lot of black as you can see.” She uses fine materials in her collections such as exclusive silks, satin, jade, lace and handmade embroideries. All Sofifi designs are handmade and in limited editions. These photos were taken at Borsen, Copenhagen Stock Exchange Building during CPH Fashion Week F/W 2013.

Ladies & Gentlemen here’s Henrik Vibskov “The Stiff Neck Chamber” Fall/Winter 2013 Collection

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

Ladies and gentlemen – I share with you my visit to the Henrik Vibskov “The Stiff Neck Chamber” Fall/Winter 2013 Collection.

Well,  I must say this was the hardest show to get into. It was quite the experience. I really wanted to share this with you so I decided to stick it out and wait in one of the longest and non moving lines I’ve ever waited on. But standing in the cold for over an hour and being as patient as we New Yorkers usually are,  it was worth it. The show was held at Borsen (The Copenhagen Stock Exchange) very close by to Tivoli. This is my third show of the day and my first time inside Borsen. I was literally the last person to get in. See you again tomorrow Borsen. This is the happening spot for some of the major shows. It’s like going to Lincoln Center for fashion week. Are you coming with me for that? Anyway back to Henrik.

Henrik Vibskov was born in Jutland and went to school in London. He returned to Danmark and started a label under his own name. He is an extremely creative artist when it comes to his collections and he is not interested in the standard Scandinavian minimalist ideals.

The lights went out and the show started very dark. Picture this: men dressed in dark baggy suits slowing unraveling a herd of red beaked swans overlapping from above the ceiling all while hearing eclectic music in the background then after about what felt like 20 minutes (but really not) passed, the runway lit up and the models walk around these herds of fabric swans, and what a set up it was. Again worth the wait.

Some all-over prints, bright colored jackets and flowered dresses. The pieces are wearable additions to any wardrobe provided you are a super cool rapper, an artist, musician, poet, singer and have a causal cool personality. Oh wait that’s just about everybody that loves fashion so then I’m talking to you.

By the way next time you see me you can ask me how to pronounce his name. I have been corrected so many times tonight I’m sure I’ve got it down now.

Thank you Mr. Vibskov

Stine Ladefoged Fall/Winter 2013 -How about some knitwear?

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

Stina Ladefoged is a Danish brand founded in 2009. She concentrates on knitwear and jersey garments. She experimented with different techniques on a knitting machine and created draping and bulky gauge. The materials used are high quality yarns and wool fabrics.

Do you like to be noticed? I mean really noticed.  Are you ready to be absolutely fabulous when you walk into a room? Yes, that’s where I’m going with this. You will be the center of attention.

What would happen if aliens landed on a farm and wanted to impersonate humans wearing the most intricate well made knitwear clothing? Use your imagination of course. Stine told me that her concept came from the idea of skulls , skeletons and bones with sculptural details. Ribs, spine like shapes were all her inspiration for this collection.

Black, grey, cordovan and cream are working this collection. A weaving of braided wool trimming for the outline of the sweaters, a jumpsuit with exposed waistlines, a ruffle of cream knits serve as outer shoulder pads.

Have you been noticed lately?

Come with me to the Edith & Ella Autumn/ Winter 13 fashion show in Copenhagen

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

OK So here we are. It’s fashion week in Danmark and here is your first dose of this seasons thread trends. I started by meeting my friend (who so kindly helped me with my second camera) in front of the Nimb hotel to see The Edith & Ella Autumn/ Winter 13 show which is in the center of Copenhagen right across the street from Central Station.

And if your familiar with Copenhagen it’s right next door to the famous Tivoli Gardens. One of the oldest amusements parks in the world. The one that turned Michael Jackson down when he offered to buy it.

I first took notice of the Edith and Ella brand while visiting the shop in Louisiana (The Museum Of Modern Art) where there is an amazing view of Sweden.

Edith and Ella is a Danish brand that was founded in 2004 by designer Line Markvarden. She is known for her take on feminine mystique, sweet, warm and fun mix of colors she involves in her collections.

The first color seen was of the yellow spectrum, mustard-goldenrod-buff chrome and then came the grape color schemes with blacks and creams. The brightest reds with metallic blues and soft blue and pink pastels.  Did I forget to mention plaid is included. Yes, all in one collection. All the colors that welcome you into fall and winter.

It’s a collection that makes you want to trade in your entire wardrobe for this one. So versatile it’s possible to do anything with each piece. Ok we can’t trade in our whole wardrobe but anything in this collection is worth having.

This series was playful, young and fresh, so bright and full of life. I image no matter what mood your in, the day you slip into one of these garments you will feel inspired to do whatever comes your way. It’s the clothes we dream about and wish existed and now they do thanks to Line Markvardsen we have it.

Alright now I’m on my way to another show. Please come back for more photos and more shows.

OK OK you wanna know about the tights right? They are from Sneaky Fox.
